CHC believes all growers across Canada should have the same increased AgriStability compensation rate
July 6, 2021
CHC applauds the step Ontario has made towards increasing the compensation rate for AgriStability, following the proposal from the federal government to remove the Reference Margin Limit (RML) and increase the compensation rate from 70% to 80%. While the agreement earlier in 2021 to remove the RML was a considerable success for many Canadian farmers, increasing the compensation rate is the next step toward ensuring the program provides the level of support growers need. CHC is hopeful that other provinces will follow Ontario’s actions and signal to Minister Bibeau and the FPT table that they are ready to implement this improvement for growers across the country.
