July 26, 2017

To support of economic opportunities and to protect human health and the environment, Canada’s federal, provincial and territorial (FPT) ministers of agriculture recently endorsed the Plant and Animal Health Strategy for Canada.

Over the last year, governments, industry, academia and others who play a role in plant and animal health came together to chart a path to collaboratively safeguard Canada’s plant and animal resources through development of this Strategy. The Canadian Horticultural Council is a member of the Strategy’s steering committee, and is a member of the working group that focuses on prevention.

The action-oriented strategy outlines how all parties will work together to protect plant and animal resources from new and emerging risks, unleashing the potential for further growth in Canada’s agriculture sector.
