CFIA postpones final phase of requirements to prevent European Grapevine moth

novembre 9, 2016

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has delayed its final set of requirements intended to prevent the introduction of the European Grapevine moth to Canada.  The delayed requirements apply to kiwi fruit, plants for planting, and fresh herbs. These requirements have been postponed until further notice. Requirements for other fresh fruit, including grapes and blueberries, have already come into effect.

The CFIA is currently reviewing directive D-13-03: Phytosanitary import requirements to prevent the introduction of Lobesia botrana, the European grapevine moth. CFIA will publish a revised directive and implement outstanding phytosanitary import requirements after it completes its review. The CFIA will inform stakeholders of these requirements at least four weeks before the implementation date. In the meantime, the existing requirements in the CFIA’s Automated Import Reference System are current and remain in effect.
