OTTAWA – Marcus Janzen, President of the Board of Directors of the Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada (FVGC) today announced the appointment of Massimo Bergamini as the new Executive Director of the organization.
“Massimo will bring a keen understanding of association management and governance, as well as an impressive track record of advocacy success to his role as Executive Director,” said Janzen. “We are confident that his association leadership and advocacy experience, his strong commitment to workplace inclusiveness and wellness and his understanding of government will help FVGC embrace the fresh approach our members and our sector expect.”
In a multifaceted career spanning four decades, Bergamini has worked both sides of the government relations table as special assistant to an Opposition Member of Parliament; policy advisor, press secretary and director of communications to two federal cabinet ministers and as a senior government relations executive.
He has achieved an enviable record of success on behalf of many organizations including the Canadian Museums Association, the National Airlines Council of Canada, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the Canadian Trucking Alliance, as well as Canada’s Accredited Zoos and Aquariums. His expertise, insights, and leadership helped transform these organizations into sector-leading players with the reputational, political and social capital necessary to achieve results.
“Having grown up on a vegetable farm in the Montérégie region, and having lived through many of the challenges the sector faces still today, this role represents a return to my roots, and an opportunity to give back to a community that supported my family and me for so many years,” said Bergamini.
