OTTAWA<\/strong> \u2013 Marcus Janzen, President of the Board of Directors of the Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada (FVGC) today announced the appointment of Massimo Bergamini as the new Executive Director of the organization. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMassimo will bring a keen understanding of association management and governance, as well as an impressive track record of advocacy success to his role as Executive Director,\u201d said Janzen. \u201cWe are confident that his association leadership and advocacy experience, his strong commitment to workplace inclusiveness and wellness and his understanding of government will help FVGC embrace the fresh approach our members and our sector expect.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a multifaceted career spanning four decades, Bergamini has worked both sides of the government relations table as special assistant to an Opposition Member of Parliament; policy advisor, press secretary and director of communications to two federal cabinet ministers and as a senior government relations executive.<\/p>\n

He has achieved an enviable record of success on behalf of many organizations including the Canadian Museums Association, the National Airlines Council of Canada, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the Canadian Trucking Alliance, as well as Canada\u2019s Accredited Zoos and Aquariums. His expertise, insights, and leadership helped transform these organizations into sector-leading players with the reputational, political and social capital necessary to achieve results.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving grown up on a vegetable farm in the Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie region, and having lived through many of the challenges the sector faces still today, this role represents a return to my roots, and an opportunity to give back to a community that supported my family and me for so many years,\u201d said Bergamini.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201cI want to thank the FVGC board for their confidence and for the opportunity to provide staff leadership to the organization,\u201d said Bergamini. \u201cI look forward to working with FVGC\u2019s members, its board leadership and its talented and dedicated staff to ensure the voices of fruit and vegetable growers are heard in Ottawa.\u201d<\/p>\n
