On January 15, 2019, the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) came into force along with the Safe Food for Canadians Act. While some requirements were to be met immediately, others, such as preventive controls plans (PCP) and traceability requirements for fresh fruit and vegetable businesses, had an extended deadline until January 15, 2020. Licensed fresh fruit or vegetable businesses, as well as growers and harvesters of fresh fruit or vegetables for export or interprovincial trade, are now required to meet preventive control and traceability requirements.<\/p>\n
