The Canadian Greenhouse Excellence Network (CGEN) is a strategic initiative of the Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada\u2019s Greenhouse Vegetable Working Group. CGEN\u2019s primary purpose is to solve complex challenges that meet the triple bottom line of sustainability; economic, environmental, and social. CGEN will be an effective vehicle for advancing research and innovation needed by various stakeholders. Support to help navigate a pathway for commercialization<\/li>\n

Youth engagement and resources to support their career path in the sector<\/li>\n
Within the Government of Canada\u2019s vision for a low-carbon economy, GHG emissions reduction targets for 2030, and the transition to net-zero by 2050. Our sector\u2019s unique roadmap requires the energy, technology, and infrastructure options to supply greenhouse crops with the heat, carbon dioxide, and electricity. We are now shifting from an initial focus on stakeholder engagement to network design. Even as CGEN is in its early development we have seen an alignment of our objectives, timelines, and resources. Given the workshop feedback, we are consulting with our key partners and experts to ensure CGEN has a strong foundation.
